Attendance at JACTIM 40th Year Anniversary Celebration

On November 22, Professor. Maki TSUJIMURA, a director of the Malaysian Branch Campus Preparation
Office attended the 40th Anniversary Ceremony of the Japanese Chamber of Trade & Industry,
Malaysia (JACTIM) on behalf of Prof. Kyosuke NAGATA, President of the University of Tsukuba.
The ceremony was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and attended by Ambassador Katsuhiko TAKAHASHI and
his wife from the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, the Malaysian Undersecretary of Economy, Trade and
Industry (Deputy Minister of Economy), and Mr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, former Prime Minister of
Malaysia and his wife as guests of honor. About 65 invited guests and 500 participants,
mainly from JACTIM member companies, also attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Mr. Takero SAWAMURA, JACTIM President delivered a speech looking ahead to
the next decade, saying,
"we would like to contribute to building a new relationship by further strengthening and mutually
enhancing the connections between Japan and Malaysia, as a result of the Look East Policy.”
Prof. Tsujimura stated after the ceremony that
“the University of Tsukuba, Malaysia will make preparations for opening the branch campus of
the university in September 2024, in order to facilitate the establishment of a progressive
cooperative relationship between Japan and Malaysia in coming years.”
